  • Singer Janelle Monae decided to switch things up a bit in her new video for "Dance Apocalypse" which she released today. Janelle ditched her usual 'do and outfit for something more appealing. Janelle channeled Andre 3000's "Hey Ya!" in the video which serves as the official second single from her new album The Electric Lady.

    I must admit that Janelle's team have been very organized with the handling of her new project. From her BET Awards performance to her Covergirl endorsement, things are really shaping up for the young singer.

    The Electric Lady hits stores on September 10th.

  • BET definitely stepped their production up a notch during the 2013 BET Awards. Ciara, Robin Thicke, and Charlie Wilson are just a few of my favorite performances from last night. The event was held last night at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.

    I would definitely give Charlie Wilson best vocal performance of the night. Despite being a senior citizen and cancer survivor, the legend really tore the house down with his performance. Robin Thicke's performance was quite nice but didn't compare to what he gave on the Graham Norton Show.

  • Singer Janelle Monae revealed the official release date for her second studio album "The Electric Lady". The album, which features collaborations from Prince and Miguel, will hit store shelves on September 10th.

    "The Electric Lady was inspired by paintings. Every night I would perform and I would paint on the canvas while I would sing. I would paint this image of a woman (of a female body) every single night. Every night I would only want to paint the same thing over and over again. All of my friends saw the paintings and they encouraged me to give her a name," says Janelle about the album title. 

    The album is preceded by her current single "Q.U.E.E.N." which features singer Erykah Badu.

    I have a feeling that Janelle is going to bring Prince out during her BET Awards performance this weekend. That would be iconic.



  • Singer/Songwriter Janelle Monae looks every bit of fierce on the cover of this month's BillBoard Magazine. Monae, who is gearing up to release her new album The Electric Lady, has enlisted powerhouses Prince and Miguel for her new project.

    "We are great friends, and he is a mentor to us, to me," she says about Prince. "It's a beautiful thing to have a friend -- someone who cares about your career and wants to see you go far and to push boundaries and to shake up the world -- give whatever they possibly can to the cause."


    I'm really excited for Janelle's collaboration with singer Prince being that she channels him a lot in her live performances.

    Janelle's current single 'Q.U.E.E.N.' which features Erykah Badu has sold over 30k copies.

  • AH-mazing! Singer Janelle Monae may have easily just landed herself video of the year with the release of the visuals for her current single 'Q.U.E.E.N.' which features Erykah Badu. Janelle steps out of her comfort zone in the clip to deliver us a new look and some hot dance moves. 

    Janelle never ceases to amaze me with her growth and originality. Did I mention how good Erykah looked too?

  • Singer Janelle Monae teamed up with Erykah Badu for an unexpected collaboration which will appear on her new album Electric Lady. The song is a tad bit different from the material that I am use to hearing from Janelle but I like it nonetheless.

    'I can't believe all of the things they say about me. Walk in the room they throwing shade left to right - they be like ohhh she serving face,' sings Janelle.

  • As if today couldn't be any more exciting, singer Janelle Monae has tapped Erykah Badu for the lead single from her new album. Janelle revealed via her official website that her new single 'Q.U.E.E.N.' will be released on April 22nd.

    I am very excited about this collaboration. Both artist are very creative lyrically and sound wise which builds my anticipation for the track.

    Janelle's new album The Electric Lady is due in stores this Summer.

     

  • Whoever singer Janelle Monae has on her team now are doing a great job. The 'Tightrope' singer just signed on to be the new face of the Covergirl cosmetics line.

    Janelle says:

    The singer revealed earlier this week that the title of her new album is 'Electric Lady'.


  • Here is a little news that we can all rejoice to. Singer Janelle Monae has revealed via Vanity Fair that she is indeed working on the new album. The album will serve as the follow-up to her previous album The ArchAndroid and will be titled 'Electric Lady'.

    I was a huge fan of Janelle's previous album however I really wish that she would ditch the tux for a more appealing outfit.

  • Singer Janelle Monae is just one of the many celebs that are throwing their support behind President Barack Obama for his re-election campaign. The 'Tightrope' singer graced the stage in Chicago to perform at a fundraiser for the campaign. Janelle is always so soft spoken and graceful.
