• It appears that popular domain purchasing site GoDaddy.com isn't playing when it comes to those that are trying to make a quick buck from the passing of singer Whitney Houston. On the day that Whitney passed, an adult entertainment site quickly purchased the domain containing her daughter, Bobbi Kristina, name and then listed it on another site for sale.

The sale of the site was forcefully removed from AfterMarket.com and has now been repossessed by original owner GoDaddy listing the following details:

    Hmph.

  • He is so sexy. Singer Tank has released the official video for his current single 'Next Breath'. I've actually heard this song on the radio quite a few times and didn't pay it any attention. The video is quite nice itself. 'Next Breath' will serve as the second single from Tank's next album 'This Is How I Feel'.

    Are you feeling the track?

  • It is no secret that we were all upset when the LOGO Network decided to not renew popular LGBT series 'Noah's Arc' due to 'funding issues'. Was that really the case or did they not want a positive show aimed towards African American males on their network? The show centered around four homosexual males that dealt with real issues involving romance, career movements, and more.

Creator Patrik-Ian Polk has since moved on to new projects and has a new film coming out titled 'The Skinny' which will be in select theaters on April 6th. The film is about five friends that attend Brown University and like the cast of Noah's Arc, all deal with day-to-day problems and decisions. Patrik-Ian Polk casted a female lesbian as one of the main character's which I feel is definitely a good idea if he wanted to pull in a large number from that spectrum of the LGBT community.

I applaud Patrik-Ian for shining such positive light on the community via his work. The real question is will  the urban LGBT community go and support the movie like we did for the premiere of the Noah's Arc film? From the looks of the preview, the movie is going to be better than Patrik's past work if I may say. In all honesty, with the proper promotional tactics and PR team, the film should do just fine. I encourage the gay's to push for high first weekend numbers like our people do for Tyler Perry films. Don't just take your BFF's, grab some of your heterosexual friends too.

Peep the clip below. Will you support the film? Comment below.

  • The fact the some of you only like Rita Ora because you are anti-Rihanna really upsets me. The singer's official UK single has surfaced titled 'R.I.P.' and I actually like it minus UK rapper Tinie Tempah. It will be interesting to see how the singers career will play out on this side of the pond.

Will Rita make it big in the States?

  • Singer Estelle has been pushing quite the promo for her new album 'All Of Me' which is now in stores. The singer took to the David Letterman show last night to perform her current single 'Thank U'. In all honesty, I saw no promo for the album prior to its release date other than Estelle tweeting about it.

I would have preferred her to perform something new from the album. She did an okay job.

  • While everyone else may be blasting what they are forced to listen to via the radio, I have been jammin' to a few other songs within the last week. In a time when radio companies are paid off by record labels to play their artist, I have rarely showed interest. So what three songs have been in constant rotation on my iPhone?

'Go' - Elle Varner :  Elle Varner has easily become one of my favorite singers/songwriters. 'Go' has a very catchy, unique beat in which Elle's voice matches perfectly. The singer sings about not wanting her spouse to go, begging him throughout the entire song. Very relatable. The song is featured on Elle V's new mix tape 'Conversational Lush'.

'Drink My Pain Away' - Stacy Barthe : Stacy definitely sums up what appeared to be my life last year. She sings about her best-friend becoming alcohol as an effort to ease her pain and hurt. Stacy serves me a Sade vibe with a more modern twist.

'D.U.I.' - Teyana Taylor ft. Fabulous, Jadakiss : I might not like this chick's personality, however I cannot lie and tell you that this track hasn't been in constant rotation in my car. I actually believe that the track would have been perfect for Janet Jackson to use as a comeback.

  • Oh my! I am definitely impressed with the teaser that singer Jennifer Hudson has released for her track 'Think Like A Man' which includes Ne-Yo and rapper Rick Ross. The song, which is the lead track for Steve Harvey's new movie 'Think Like A Man', was just what I needed to hear from the singer. The song is a fresh sound from her. I would hope that Jen's team would piggy-back off the song and make it a lead single for her next album.

    Peep the clip below.

  • Anybody anticipating this year's BET 'Rip the Runway'? I'm not. In an effort to build the hype, BET's 106 and Park hosted a competition that included picking the perfect model. RHOA's Cynthia Bailey, Angela Simmons, and blogger B.Scott judged the competition that included some very attractive women. Who put that good weave in Angela Simmons head?

BET's Rip the Runway will air March 21, at 10 PM!

  • Are all the networks coming for the #1 spot in reality television this year? Kim Kimble, known for her work as Beyonce's personal hairstylist, has nabbed her very own reality show on the WEtv network. The show will showcase the work and drama that occur in her Hollywood salon. Hair Divas, which will debut June 7th, is supposedly aimed towards 'African American women who are looking for entertainment stories about relatable  and interesting characters' says the network.

Kim Kimble's new reality show will fill the Thursday night spot which is now held by the Braxton's and also the new Mary Mary reality show which premieres in a few weeks. Kim has worked with Beyonce, Mary J., Shakira, and more.

    Will you be tuning in?

  • This is what I needed in my life. 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' has surfaced from singer Melanie Fiona's sophomore 'The MF Life'. Melanie tweeted that the track leaked and then proceeded to tweet the link for the song. Obviously Melanie is fed up with the way that her team has been handling her next album and decided to take things into her own hands. I must say that the track is by far the best to surface from the new album; oldie vibe.

Will you be purchasing Melanie's next album?

  •       Written by [Guest Editor] Sefano Patton (@ABlackPig) (www.SVelvetNoose.com)

First impressions are of the utmost importance in an unforgiving economy that favors the consumer.  Alicia Keys was introduced to the world as a singer-songwriter, so we accept it. However, something different happens when an already established songwriter wants to stand in front of the microphone under the hot lights; we are apprehensive, especially in the information age where the Music Industry has been cracked open and laid out for everyone to see.
Stacy Barthe, the singer, comes to us by way of song writing. Her credits include the top ten smash “Cheers (drink to that),” performed by Rihanna , Britney Spear’s “Blur,” and Brandy’s 2011 December leak “Silent Night”; these are only a few of the songs to her billing.  So, when I discovered Barthe’s Sincerely Yours EP, I wondered if she would be re-hashing the sounds of today’s top 40 acts that she helped create.
Thankfully, I was wrong. Sincerely Yours is just that – it is for the individual listener, because nothing sounds generic. This is the shiny red bike you want your friends in the cul-de-sac to admire but not really ride. This is personal.  You won’t find any rehashed pop or R&B on this EP. In fact, while surfing another blog, I saw the term “R&B” attached to the project.  I feel they are mistaken; Sincerely Yours is simply music.
Stacy Barthe emotes with the best of them, Sade, Toni Braxton, and Alanis Moresette on tracks like “Not Like I Used To” where the background vocals are haunting and her lead vocals are a bit sassy. She sings inaudibly under the electric guitar as the track fades a perfect “I don’t give a fuck anymore” send off to an ex-lover. Barthe regrets, pleads and reminisces on “Without You” featuring Frank Ocean where the latter plays her opposite. Ocean is a man that stands his ground proclaiming she had it all and now she only appreciates him because he is gone. Barthe bends, stretches, and pulls on the end of notes like fabric—running them into synthesizers to get the most out of each line; her voice becomes an instrument propelling the track forward. Everything on Sincerely Yours, is definitively Barthe; however, Barthe doesn’t deliver as effortlessly on her next EP (I’m neglecting her Christmas EP).
Barthe has called In the Inbetween a Caribbean-influenced EP. It is a little more than influenced; the new EP is down right heavy-handed and much too literal in its influence. From the strings, horns, and bass line of “Keep It like It Is” that feel like they were plucked out of Caribbean café to the dead on lyricism of “Everbeen  Everfelt” where by the climax Barthe aggressively sings “This is the worst break up ever felt, this is the saddest I’ve ever been.” What happened to metaphors of “Comfy Little Coffin” to get across the heartbreak or the suicidal tendency and dose of humor “Drink my pain away” provided on the first EP?
While her voice is as immaculate as ever, I can’t help but feel the personable aspect of her music is too few and far between on In the Inbetween. There are gems on the EP where her personality shines through her vocals and writing on “Do Me” a song about the golden rule: do unto to others as you’d have them do unto you. On “Find My Way” Barthe’s authoritative tone commands (rather than asks) a lost lover to find his way back to her. Although, again, the production lacks interpretation, Barthe’s delivery makes the track worth repeated listening. The sound of live instruments and digital sounds mesh very well on the entrancing “Easier Said Than Done,” where you believe Barthe is really a lover caught in turmoil as she pushes her conflicting feelings at you with her breathy lower register. It is a track that finally has the interpretation of island music. The sixth song on the EP is by far the stand out track. This blue grass digital song brings to mind “You and I” by Lady Gaga, only more refined. Left field from the rest of the production, yes, but that is what makes “Heart Switch (Turn It Off)” a winner. With the inclusion of this song it makes me believe Barthe is still interested in making music, instead of just plugging her talent into a genre.

  • I'm sure VH1's Basketball Wives newcomer Kenya Bell knew all of her business would be exposed before she signed up to be on the fourth season of the hit series. What you may not know about Kenya is that last year she was charged with attempting to stab her husband Charlie Bell after she assaulted him with a box cutter. Crazy much? I had already established from the previews alone that this chick is a little out there. Tami Roman needs to watch her back.

Nonetheless, I got my hands on the controversial YouTube video which was the hot topic on last night's episode of the show. Check it out here.

  • I definitely got the laugh I needed today after viewing late night talkshow host Jimmy Kimmel pitch shows to Oprah Winfrey for her new OWN network. Jimmy pitched everything from 'Oprah After-Dark' to 'Book Club Fight Club' on his show Jimmy Kimmel Live. The clips made me really wish that Oprah would return to acting.

  • It looks like ABC decided to tap a few black people that we may actually know to compete in this season of 'Dancing with the Stars'. Singer Gladys Knight and actress Sherri Shepherd are amongst those that will compete in the new season of the hit show. Another one of 'us' on the show will be actor Jaleel White who starred as Steve Urkel in popular 90s show 'Family Matters'.

I really hope that Jaleel will use the exposure to get his name out there once more. Who knows, he may actually have a shot at the trophy too.

  • D*mn. Trey Songz looked quite nice as he posed for the March issue of GQ Magazine. The urban singer rocked some very nice Spring styles to help bring in the new season. I must say that this is by far the best photoshop that I have seen from the singer.

Trey is currently wrapping up production on his fifth studio album 'Chapter 5'.

  • I am definitely excited about the release of singer Miguel's new EP 'Art Dealer Chic Vol 1'. About a month ago, the singer released a video for the lead track from the 3-song EP which was titled 'Adorn'; a soothing and smooth track. Miguel's team should definitely send 'Adorn' to the radio market.

    Download Miguel's new EP here.

  • As much as I try to force myself to like Dawn Richards, her music never does anything for me. 'Fly', a new track from the former Danity Kane singer, has surfaced and it is an auto tune mess. I never would have imagined that I would prefer Kalenna's music over Dawn's.

Oh well. Peep the track below.

  • Singer Robin Thicke gives us a behind the scenes look at his new video 'Pretty Lil Heart' which features rapper Lil Wayne. The video actually looks like it will be quite interesting, with an interesting story line. Did anyone see Lil Wanye in the video snippet? I didn't either. Robin, who was arrested earlier this month on drug charges, which premiere the video tomorrow on BET's 106 and Park.

    Opinions?

  • Arrogant much? Rapper Nicki Minaj took the stage last night at the All-Star game to perform some of her biggest hits. In a backstage interview with MTV, Minaj tells the reporter that she deserved the #4 spot on their 'Hottest MC' list because she works hard. I will admit that she does work a little hard, however recent performances and song releases say otherwise. Meanwhile, how did she place higher than Lil Wayne and Jay-Z?

Peep with Minaj had to say below. Just when I was starting to like her she goes all 'pop' and loses me again.

  • Who was surprised that Octavia Spencer won an Oscar last night? The actress has been on a role this award season winning basically all acting awards for her supporting actress role in the movie adapted 'The Help'. It is hard to believe that just a few year's ago she was acting along side Queen Latifah in 'Beauty Shop'.

Watch the emotional Octavia Spencer give her acceptance speech for winning Best Supporting Actress for 'the Help' below.

  • Rapper Pitbull enlisted R&B singers Chris Brown and Ne-Yo for his performance last night at the 2012 All-Star Game which was held in Orlando. Chris Brown performed 'International Love' in addition to his own record 'Turn Up the Music', while Ne-Yo joined in for 'Give Me Everything'.

I must say that Pitbull's show was a lot better than Nicki Minaj's performance.

  • It appears that rappers Drake and Common have officially squashed their beef. The two had been feuding for months after Common supposedly dissed Drake for hanging with his ex-girlfriend Serena Williams. It is definitely good to see the guys take the more mature and safer route for handling the situation. The tension got bad to the point where they both took jabs at each other in a diss track.

    Check the guys laughing below.

  • It appears that rapper Nicki Minaj's gimmick is growing even more wackier. Nicki channeled a box of Lucky Charms for her latest costume as she graced the stage to perform some of her most popular hits which included 'Moment 4 Life' and 'Turn Me On'. She sounded great (on the first song) however I am definitely not feeling the costume.

    Peep the circus below.

  • This is the point where I tell Mary J. Blige to rent out a stadium and have all the seats. The R&B singer was on hand at this year's NBA Allstar Game to sing the National Anthem and boy did she give us a sound of hell. I absolutely love Mary but the Star-Spangled Banner is one of those songs she should have avoided at all cost.

Mary served us 'stop choking me' tease with her rendition.

  • This has been quite an amazing year for actress Viola Davis. The South Carolina native was spotted arriving at the 2012 Academy Awards in a nice green gown. Other than the pound of makeup on her face, I think Viola looks quite nice.

Viola is nominated for Best Actress in a Lead Role for her role in 'The Help'.

  • When Tyler Perry announced that he had cast reality star Kim Kardashian in her new movie 'The Marriage Counselor', the black population went into an instant uproar. While on Chelsea Lately promoting his new movie 'Good Deeds', Perry decided to clear up the rumors surrounding his decision to cast Kim. Tyler stated that he really didn't know who she was nor the drama surrounding her when he first made the decision. He went on to state that her role is 'very small' and that she did a great job.

In other news, Tyler's newest film 'Good Deeds' comes in at #2 at the weekend box office with $16 million in ticket sales.

  • Words cannot explain how much I love Lil Mo's voice and her runs. The singer has returned with a remix for her track 'Perfect Man' which is featured on her 'P.S. I Love Me' album. The remix, which features the lovely Faith Evans, is quite nice. Both ladies sounded nice on the track, however Lil Mo definitely gave me more.

Download Lil Mo's 'PS I Love Me' on iTunes here. Listen to 'Perfect Man' below.

  • There are some things that the women of Mary Mary have said that have pissed me off in the past, but there is no denying that these ladies make good music. The duo have returned with new single 'Go Get It' which talks about 'getting' your blessing. This song just easily made it onto my iPod.

Mary Mary's new album is due out in May but will only include two new songs (the others being remastered classics). Their WeTV reality series premieres March 29th at 10 PM.

  • Who knew that Lisa Turtle Royce Reed had found herself another baller? The VH1 Basketball Wives reality star is reportedly dating Dezmon Briscoe from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I'm not mad at Royce because he is definitely eye candy. Is this why Evelyn is so jealous of Royce?

In a recent interview with Loop 21, Royce says:

He knows my ring size and what I like. We talked about the future and a family and he’s really good with [my son] Braylon. He has a son himself, but I don’t know. I finally found the one after so many times

I wonder how long the two have been together to be considering marriage? If you don't recall, Royce's baby daddy is Dwight Howard.

  • It appears that Tiny's and her hairstylist that everyone loves, Shekinah, have decided to go into business together. Shekinah invented a quicker way for her clients hair to dry by placing straws in the hairdryer. I'm sure she has had a patented by now being that she aired it on the show. In the midst of showing her invention, Shekinah managed to cut her hand really bad. I laughed.

Peep the footage from the newest episode of their VH1 show below.

  • Oup! It looks like the mother of the late Whitney Houston is not playing when it comes to the photo that leaked of her daughter in her casket. According to Inside Edition, Cissy Houston is supposedly about to start issuing subpoenas to family, friends, security, and funeral home staff to find out who sold the picture to the National Inquirer for 500k.

Wouldn't it just be easy to have her lawyers contact the funeral home to see who sold the picture? Nonetheless, what justice will it due her once she finds the culprit? [Source]

  • I really don't know why I can't stand Teyana Taylor. It has been over a year since our infamous Twitter argument which landed on MediaTakeOut. However, my dislikes towards this guy did not stop me from liking her new single 'D.U.I.' which features rappers Fabulous and Jadakiss.

The singer also released the first webisode of 'The Misunderstanding of Teyana Taylor' (below).

  • It appears that singer Pleasure P Marcus Cooper is trying to creep his way back into the game. The former Pretty Rickey singer has produced a new song with DJ Smallz, written by Rico Love, titled 'Freakaholic'. It is no secret that Marcus disappeared from the game after rumors surfaced from his former group members alleging child molestation charges.

The song is actually quite nice. I am really rooting for Marcus and I hope that the slight image change can shed a little light on who he is as an artist. The new song will be featured on DJ Smallz mixtape.
