• Opinion: Is Roland Martin Sorry or Trying to Save His Job? #LGBT

One would assume that with all the backlash that recent ‘homophobes’ have accrued within the last year that all public figures had learned a lesson about degrading the LGBT community, right? Apparently not. Just days after CNN personality Roland Martin took to his Twitter account to tweet that ‘any man that got excited about David Beckham’s commercial should have the ish slapped out of him’, LGBT advocate group GLAAD are calling for his resignation/firing from CNN.

Do I personally feel like his intentions were bad to the point that he should be fired? No. However, due to Martin’s previous lashes out at the LGBT community he should definitely be fired. Just think about it, if someone has been known for stealing and the one time that they don’t steal and something comes up missing they are automatically blamed and punished due to their history. Did we all forget that Roland Martin was one of the most vocal supporters for actor Tracey Morgan after his harsh use of words when referring to homosexuals? Or what about that tweet that Martin sent out a while ago which said ‘I’m sorry. I’m not down with seeing dudes walking around with bags on their shoulders that resemble women handbags. #helltothenaw’? Honestly I feel as though with a history of supporting and fighting for a minority group (black people), that Martin would understand that unpleasant remarks are harmful. If Anderson Cooper went on Twitter and said ‘I’m not here for there being a check cashing place and fried chicken joint in every ghetto’ Martin would be the first vocal opponent to those remarks.

The issue that upset me about Roland’s ‘apology’ was that it was not an apology. Instead of apologizing for making the comment, the bastard apologized for those that ‘took it the wrong way’. And the lady that called into V-103’s ‘Frank and Wanda Morning Show’ and said that we should just ‘forgive and forget because we need intelligent black men on TV such as Roland’ can kiss my ass. My dear, if you consider terms such as ‘ish’ and ‘hell to the naw’ intelligent, you should definitely reserve a stadium and have all the seats.

I’m not buying Roland’s apology. He is simply trying to keep his job.
